Ukraine plants winter wheat on 99% of planned acreage
Ukraine planted winter wheat on 6.49 million hectare and its overall winter crops were on 8.04 million hectares of the planned 8.12 million hectares, accounting for 99% of the forecast.
Other than wheat, crops like rye was planted on 327 thousand ha, 99% of the forecast and barley on 1.22 million ha, also 99% of the forecast.
As reported, in 2010, winter crops for green fodder and grain were planted on almost 9.3 million hectares, which is 9.1% less than in 2009. Acreage under winter crops was decreased by 5.5% to 8.1 million hectares.
