China soy imports increase in 2nd half of October

China imported 838,225 tonnes of soy in the second-half of October, 16 percent higher than the first-half of October, according to the Commerce Ministry.

Buyers in the world's largest importing country estimated soy imports of 2.5 million tonnes for November, up from 1.7 million tonnes for October, the ministry said in a report.

The ministry's figures were lower than traders' estimates of shipments. Traders estimated November arrivals at about 3 million tonnes while imports for October stood at between 2 to 2.5 million tonnes.

Buyers also estimated imports of 322,126 tonnes of soyoil in November, up from 48,116 tonnes for October. The ministry said importers reported 30,007 tonnes of rapeseed oil for November, up from 14,700 tonnes for October.

The following table shows loadings of soy as well as soyoil and palmoil in the October 16-31 period and forecasts for October and November as reported by importers by 31 October.
