H5N8 bird flu confirmed at Schleswig-Holstein state, Germany
The northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein's agriculture ministry confirmed a case of the H5N8 bird flu at a poultry farm in the state, Reuters reported.
The ministry said eight chickens died on the farm, adding that the remaining birds at the farm have been culled and disposed professionally.
A H5N8 bird flu case was confirmed at a Lower Saxony poultry farm earlier this year.
In the Netherlands, 200,000 chickens are set to be culled in the after a bird flu was detected in Puiflijk town, while the UK ordered 13,000 birds culled at a Frodsham, Cheshire farm after bird flu was detected there.
