Argentina's 2011-12 wheat output seen at  13 million tonnes

Argentina's wheat production for the 2011-12 crop year is likely to hit 13 million tonnes, 500,000 tonnes lower than the USDA's official estimate, the agency's Buenos Aires attache said late Thursday (Nov 3).

"After a dry winter in several parts of the growing region, spring rainfall alleviated stressed wheat but yields will still be negatively affected especially in Cordoba province and in the south western part of Buenos Aires province," the attache said.

Argentine wheat exports are expected at 9.2 million tonnes this crop year, the attache said.

Attache reports are not official USDA figures.
