US Butterball sells Longmont brand

Butterball has sold its Longmont brand to Sigma Alimentos of Mexico.

Butterball LLC has announced the sale of its Longmont brand to Sigma Alimentos, Mexico's largest producer and distributor of refrigerated and frozen food. The sale was completed Thursday, October 30 2008. The financial details surrounding the purchase are not being disclosed.

The sale of the Longmont brand will not result in loss of jobs at Butterball's facility in Longmont, Colorado.

Butterball's Longmont facility will be cooperating with Sigma Alimentos to produce products under the Longmont brand. The Sigma Alimentos purchase of the Longmont brand blends well with Butterball's overall business strategy.

Butterball LLC is the largest producer of turkey products in the US. Headquartered in Garner, North Carolina, Butterball was formed in October 2006, when Carolina Turkeys acquired the Butterball brand from ConAgra Foods.

The merge of excellence in turkey production and customer service from Carolina Turkeys with the international brand recognition of Butterball resulted in undeniable benefits to consumers everywhere. Butterball employs 6,000 associates throughout its seven plant locations and corporate offices.
