Thai Feed Mill Association demands for 0-percent import tax of soy meal

President of Thai Feed Mill Association, Pornsilp Patcharintanakun, has proposed to the government for a reduction in soy meal import tax from 4 percent to 0 percent, in an effort to support entrepreneurs.

Mr. Pornsilp stated that entrepreneurs have previously been cooperative with the government's request for a decrease in animal feed prices.

However, the government itself has been unproductive in many areas, such as the conclusion of next year's import policies for soy meal and the slash on its import tax down to 0 percent.

If the Cabinet's approval of the policies delays any further, Mr. Pornsilp expressed concern that the livestock sector's production planning, supply storage and competitive edge in the world market will be affected since import plans must be made three months in advance.

Meanwhile, Mr. Pornsilp informed that the import tax cut to 0 percent will allow entrepreneurs to perform further decrease on animal feed prices as well.
