China Methionine: Significant price rise (week ended Oct 30, 2023)

Tight availability of methionine pushed up prices significantly during October.

Transacted price of locally produced dl-methionine in China strengthened to the range of RMB18.80-20.70/kg whereas those of imported products strengthened to RMB20.70/kg.

Methionine hydroxy analogue prices rose to the range of RMB14.50-16.10/kg.

Export prices of dl-methionine increased prominently to US$2.60/kg.

With global production of methionine limited, prices are expected to stay firm in the coming period.
