South Korea, Canada resume beef trade negotiations

South Korea and Canada on November 3 are in talks regarding more Canadian beef exports to Seoul.

Seoul is reportedly open to all Canadian boneless, bone-in and offal product from cattle younger than 30 months of age.

Canada Beef Export Federation President Ted Haney said the development would "represent commercially viable access to the Korean market, representing great value to Canadian cattle producers."

Haney also said amid the World Organization for Animal Health's go signal for controlled-risk countries such as Canada to export all edible beef products derived from cattle of all ages, it is okay so long as specified risk materials are removed as it is full trade normalisation, which is Canada's goal in South Korea.
