China Announces 2004 Export Quotas For Live Pigs, Cattle

 

The Chinese government has announced export quotas for live pigs and live cattle for the 2004 calendar year.

 

The export quota for big live pigs in 2004 is 1.7 million heads, with 1.55 million heads allocated for Hong Kong and 150,000 heads for Macao, according to a notice on the Ministry of Commerce's Web site Tuesday.

 

The export quota for middle-sized live pigs is 284,000 heads, with 280,000 heads allocated for Hong Kong and 4,000 heads for Macao, said the notice.

 

The export quota for live cattle in 2004 is 56,500 heads, with 50,000 heads for Hong Kong and 6,500 heads for Macao, according to the notice.

 

The export quota for live chicken is 3.325 million heads, with 3 million heads for Hong Kong and 325,000 head for Macao, said the notice.

 

The export quotas are unchanged from 2003.
