Agricola Bacau Group expects 2011's output up 21%
Romania's Agricola Bacau group on Tuesday (Nov 1) anticipates its turnover to increase by 21% this year to RON500 million (US$157 million) after a 23% rise in between January and September this year.
The nine-month turnover rose to RON385.3 million (US$121.2 million), the group said in a statement. Poultry producer Agricola International, had a turnover of RON256.2 million (US$80.6 million) in the first nine months, up 19% from a year earlier.
The group's poultry sales increased 22% in terms of volume from January-September, while raw-dried salami and boiled-smoked product sales rose by 10%. Ready-meal sales were up 11%.
"By October 1, the poultry sales volume has reached 23,300 tonnes so we think we will reach the target of 31,000 tonnes at the end of the year, while in 2010, sales were a bit over 26,000 tonnes," Agricola Bacau group's president Grigore Horoi said in the statement.
The share of exports in poultry sales is 22%, which is double compared to last year, Horoi added.
The group's main export markets are Germany, The Netherlands, France, Greece and the UK.
The Agricola Bacau group comprises poultry producer Agricola International, raw-dried salami and boiled-smoked products maker Salbac, ready-meals producer Europrod, egg producer Avicola Lumina-Constanta, pork farm Suinprod Siret, grain farm and dairy factory Aicbac, grain warehouse Comcereal, construction company Agriconstruct and fodder producer G-A Nutritie Animala. It employs 2,600 people.
