Vietnamese chicken raisers halt output to prevent losses
Numerous Vietnamese chicken breeders have been compelled to stop working to prevent losses, Vietnamese newspaper said Tuesday (Nov 1).
Due to high production costs and low product prices offered by traders, many of them have been falling in losses, the media said.
Farmers have to spend high on offspring, feed and others while local traders are willing to pay under the production costs by VND12,000-18,000 (US$0.57-0.86) per kilogramme.
However, Vietnamese consumers still pay high for chicken products.
Observers forecast that due to decreasing production of chicken, Vietnam will face serious shortage of chicken during New Year period.
