China releases list of approved Irish meat exporters

China has released a list of Irish meat processing facilities that are approved to export to the country, RTE reported on October 31.

The list was published by the Chinese government's General Administration of Customs following a recent two-week trip in Ireland made by many Chinese inspectors.

The plants approved are: Kildare Chilling; Euro Farm Foods, Duleek; ABP Cahir, Rathkeale, Ferrybank and Bandon; Meadow Meats, Rathdowney; Dawn Meats, Grannagh and Ballyhaunis; Ashbourne Meat Processors, Roscrea and Naas; and Kepak, Ballymahon and Kilbeggan.

Approval has also been granted to cold stores at CGI Coldstore, Blanchardstown, and Musgrave, Tallaght.

Chinese consumers have a growing appetite for beef, with consumption levels expected to increase dramatically in the next ten years.
