Events in the next 3 months
In five days, the 2nd International Congress of Macrobrachium starts in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. This event is being held in an effort to improve the knowledge of the biology and taxonomy, ecological aspects, genetics, aquaculture and fisheries of the freshwater prawns of genus Macrobrachium.
We've picked eight other events that are slated in November, including the 2nd International Ornamental Fish Trade and Technical Conference in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on February 8 – 10, 2017. World trade in ornamental fish has become a billion-dollar industry, with total wholesale and retail values estimated at US$1 billion and $3 billion, respectively.

2nd Taiwan Fisheries and Seafood Show

Kaohsiung, Taiwan
The Taiwan International Fisheries and Seafood Show 2016, to be held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Hall, expects to attract 250 local and international exhibitors on more than 500 booths. It also expects to draw some 7,000 professional visitors.
The expo will feature sections for fishing gear and technology, fish farming, processed seafood products, fishery services and, for the first time, fisheries biotechnology. The TAITRA hopes to create a more competitive platform for the exhibitors.
Taiwan's fishery industry and its production value have played a vital part on the international market, and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council, which co-hosts the show with My Exhibition, hopes to create a more competitive platform for the exhibitors.

2nd International Congress on Applied Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment

5th Aquaponics Association Conference: Going Mainstream

With the theme "Going Mainstream", the 2016 Aquaponics Association Conference will focus on how aquaponics can evolve to become a more well-accepted form of growing food. It will be held in Austin, Texas, a location well known for innovation and adopting new ideas. FENACAM'16 - Brazilian Farmed Shrimp Fair

These events are aimed at meeting the expectations and interests of the entire production chain of marine shrimp farming and Brazilian aquaculture. LACQUA 2016, which will take place at the Sheraton Convention Centre in Lima, Peru, from November 28 to December 1 will be the 2016 annual meeting of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter of World Aquaculture Society.
Following upon the previous successful LACQUA meetings, LACQUA16 will bring international attention to the aquaculture industry of Peru and South America. The WAS regional meeting—South American Regional Aquaculture 2016—will be co-held with LACQUA 2016.
There will be an exhibition by aquaculture suppliers from around the world of the latest in equipment, supplies and services.
Sessions and workshops at LACQUA '16 will cover all aspects of aquaculture in Peru and South America, as well as the rest of the world, such as fish culture, crustacean culture, seaweeds, production systems, sustainable aquaculture, health and diseases, physiology and genetics, nutrition and feeding, and processing and economics.

2nd International Ornamental Fish Trade and Technical Conference
February 8 – 10, 2017
Colombo, Sri Lanka
The 2nd International Ornamental Fish Trade and Technical Conference will take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, currently the sixth-largest supplier of ornamental fish to the global market, on February 8-10, 2017. The event's venue is the 5-star Kingsbury hotel, which is 35 minutes from the Bandaranayake International Airport.
Organised by Infofish, one of the FISHINFONetwork members, the event will comprise a two-day conference and one-day field trip to ornamental fish farms in the country. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss issues facing the global ornamental fish industry, including ways to increase production through capture and culture fisheries; introduction and breeding of exotic species; and health management and biosecurity measures.
