Ukrainian soy output to reach 2.72 million tonnes in 2012

 

 

The general output of soy in 2012 is expected to reach 2.72 million tonnes with an average yield of 20.2c/ha, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

 

According to data, contained in information materials for the working session of the Ministry "Forecasted production volumes of soy and directions of processing for the next five years", held in Kiev on October 28, soy will occupy 1.35 million hectares for the harvest in 2012.

 

During January-September of 2011, Ukraine exported 704,800 tonnes of soy at the sum of US$308,500. Iran – 198,650 tonnes, Italy – 161,660 tonnes, Egypt – 100,600 tonnes, and Syria – 55,630 tonnes were the major importers of soy from Ukraine.

 

In 2010, Ukraine exported 449,450 tonnes of soy at US$174,230.
