Sweden's imported beef prices up
Prices of Swedish imported beef have risen by 20% in the past year, but sales volumes were unaffected.
Johan HÃ¥llbus of importer North Trade says the company had expected reduced sales of its imported beef from South America, but believes the volumes have been retained as consumers consider the beef is of high and reliable quality.
South America accounts for about 40% of North Trade's total beef imports. In all, Swedish imports of beef from South America are likely to total about 5,000 tonnes in 2011, according to Johan HÃ¥llbus.
