China ranks No.2 export market for US DDGS
China was the US' second biggest export market for distillers dried grains with solubles, or DDGS, for January to August 2011, the US Grains Council said Friday (Oct 28).
"Despite the uncertainty surrounding China's DDGS anti-dumping case, Chinese imports totalled almost 805,000 tonnes, making China the number two DDGS market for the period," the council said in its weekly global update.
China late last year opened a probe into US DDGS exports, though Chinese grain officials later suggested the investigation would likely result in "lower-than-expected" anti-dumping duties on the US product.
Mexico is in first place among US DDGS export markets with nearly 1.3 million tonnes in purchases, the council said.
Thirty-eight countries around the world have purchased US exports of the corn-based animal feed as of August this year, and the council said January-to-August totals show rising sales in 28 of these countries.
