Ukraine's August milk production down

Ukraine's August milk production decreased by 5.3% or 64,000 tonnes compared to July, to 1,135,100 tonnes, the State Statistics Service said.

Private farms reduced milk production by 5.7% to 927,100 tonnes, and specialized farms by 3.9% to 208,000 tonnes.

In August 2011, milk production fell by 1.2% or 12,800 tonnes compared to August 2010.

In January-August 2011, comparing with January-August 2010, milk production decreased by 2.2% or 174,000 tonnes to 7,696,600 tonnes.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in July, milk production fell by 0.7% or 8,800 tonnes compared to June, to 1,199,100 tonnes.

In 2010, milk production decreased by 3.1% or 355,500 tonnes to 11,254,100 tonnes over-year.
