Russia bans four Danish meat plants

Russia has banned imports from four meat plants in Denmark on sanitary issues.

This brings the total number of suspended Danish plants to 18 in Russia's long ban list.

Danish Crown owns three of the four plants, and they are banned because bacteria have been found in their meat products.

This means that 70 percent of Danish meat exports to Russia have been closed, according to the Danish Meat Association on Friday (October 24, 2008).
