Russian statistics company AMIKO reports that sausage has taken the domestic meat by 60 percent while meat semi-processed product market is 27 percent and canned meat share by 13 percent.
Sausage segment represents 33 percent of total volume of Moscow market
Though Russian per capita meat consumption rate is significantly lower than rates of economically developed countries, domestic meat market shows clear trend for meat product consumption increase. For several years Russian meat market has increased its volume by about 8 percent per year in average due to increase in incomes.
Moscow market is characterized by high per capita consumption, which amounts to 30 kilograms of meat per year. About 10 percent of the whole Russian market falls on Moscow meat product market. Gourmet foods and ham share is about 20 percent and 17 percent respectively.
