Vietnam's seafood export value increases 22.8%
Vietnam is estimated to have earned US$4.926 billion from seafood exports during January-October 2011, an on-year increase of 22.8%, the government's General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
In October, the country's seafood exports are expected to reach US$580 million, compared to US$560 million in September, the GSO said in a report.
During Jan-Oct, the Southeast Asian country has spent US$417 million on imports of aquatic materials, including US$55 million in October and US$50 million in September, the statistics showed.
Exports of seafood brought about US$5 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to rise to US$5.5 billion this year.
