Five countries to acquire ASF vaccines made by Vietnam

Representatives from five countries including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar and India, have signed contracts to purchase African swine fever (ASF) vaccines made in Vietnam.

A signing ceremony for the contracts took place in Ha Long city of the northern province of Quang Ninh, Vietnam, on October 22.

When ASF struck in 2019, Vietnam suffered an estimated loss of at least six million pigs, according to the country's Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Phung Duc Tien. He added that disease prevention is a vital aspect and the foremost solution for livestock development.

Earlier, the Philippines imported 300,000 doses of the vaccine from Vietnam.
