Russia's grain harvests reach 94.6 million tonnes
As of October 21, Russia harvested 94.6 million tonnes of grain on 41 million hectares, or 95.3% of the total area to be reaped, with an average yield of 2.31 tonnes per hectare, according to the National Union of Grain Producers Monday (Oct 24).
The harvest to date is over 30 million tonnes more than the same date in 2010.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said October 5 the country would harvest 95 million tonnes of grain this year.
Last year's harvest fell to 60.9 million tonnes from 97.1 million tonnes in 2009 due to the summer drought.
