China imported 176,951 tonnes of wheat in September, a jump of 96% over the same period of last year, according to the General Administration of Customs Monday (Oct 24).
In the first nine months, the country's wheat imports totalled 963,657 tonnes, down 19% on-year.
Meanwhile, China's wheat output is expected to reach 116.79 million tonnes for the whole year of 2011, according to the latest report released by China National Grain & Oils Information Centre.
The figure would represent a slight increase of 1.38% from 2010.
