Emerging markets to support Australian beef export growth

Australia's beef exports are expected to increase in volume and value, despite the gloomy outlook of world economy.

Over the next eight years, Australian beef exports could increase by US$2.5 billion or 57 percent due to emerging markets such as Asia, said Peter Weeks, chief market analyst of Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA).

The world, especially the developing countries such as Russia, China and India, will want more beef product as their income increases, and that will support Australian beef exports, according to Weeks.
