Russia bans milk, poultry imports from 20 Belarusian companies
Russian sanitary agency Rosselkhoznadzor announced that 20 Belarusian milk and poultry companies will be prohibited from exporting their products to Russia as of November 1 due to the discovery of serious quality control flaws.
The decision was taken following the failure of Belarusian authorities to carry out audits of 35 firms, which were inspected by the agency in August and were allowed to export their produce to Russia only after guarantees by the Belarusian State Veterinary Service.
In early October, five companies in Belarus were banned from exporting meat products to Russia also due to sanitary issues.
Over 100 Belarusian companies export meat and dairy products to Russia.
