WEA accredits 3 additional bulk exporters

Regulator Wheat Exports Australia announced Thursday; three more companies have been accredited to export bulk wheat under new arrangements that came into force on July 1.

The three companies that fulfilled the criteria are Emerald Group Australia Pty Ltd., Bunge Agribusiness Australia Pty Ltd. and Queensland Cotton Corp., a unit of Singapore-based Olam, said Wheat Exports Australia in a statement.

These companies bring the total number accredited to 19.

Chief Executive Peter Woods said new applications received will be assessed by WEA and existing accredited companies will be reviewed as well.

He also said this is the first time in more than 60 years that Australian wheat growers have been able to choose who they sell their grain to, based on the best deal.
