Pakistan wheat output forecast up at 25 million tonnes
Pakistan's expects wheat output to rise to 25 million tonnes in the financial year ending June, Nazar Muhammad Gondal, farm minister said Tuesday (October 21).
The wheat crop is expected to be 13 percent higher than last year's 22.5 million tonnes. Local demand was 25 million tonnes last year and Pakistan imported 2.5 million tonnes to meet the shortfall.
"Better international prices created an opportunity for local farmers and they invested more in this season", Gondal said.
