Brazil's growth in cattle on feed down to 1.1 percent
The most recent survey conducted by the Brazilian National Lotfeeders Association (ASSOCON) in October, has revised further down the projected growth of cattle on feed of its 47 associates for 2008, with an expected growth of only 1.1 percent over the 541,951 head marketed in 2007.
ASSOCON'S 2008 projections have been continually decreasing throughout the year, down sharply from an expected 22.2 percent growth in March's survey.
The decrease comes as a result of high input costs, low re-stocker supply and a forecasted decrease in grown steer prices for the off season period, when the majority of lot fed animals are marketed between August-November.
