Chinese grain firms buy 57.32 million tonnes of new wheat
China's 11 major wheat producing provinces purchased a total of 57.32 million tonnes of wheat from 2011's crop as of September 30, the State Administration of Grain said.
State-owned grain enterprises bought 35.89 million tonnes of wheat, accounting for 63% of the total amount.
Farmers are holding on to about 30%-40% of their wheat output, forcing some flour mills to buy wheat from weekly government wheat auctions, traders said.
