Brazil beef exporters face EU trade barriers
Trade barriers are preventing Brazilian beef exporters from reaching out to the EU market.
Non-tariff barriers are limiting the headway Brazilian beef exporters can make into the EU market; Brazilian food export agency APEX told just-food at SIAL.
Business director of Apex Brazil, Mauricio Borges said he has 100 EU complaint beef exporters, but only a handful of them can get a hearing in Europe.
The beef exporters' EU business is hindered by regulations for third country exporters, some of which have as much to do with protecting European market share as European food safety.
Disputes on traceability remains unsettled even after a visit from an EU delegation, said Borges.
