Ukraine grain reserves up 77 percent on year
     

 

According to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, by Wednesday, 1 October 2008, Ukraine's agricultural enterprises (except small farms) and companies dealing with storage and processing of grain crops had 25.2 million tonnes of grain, which is 77 percent more than by October 1, 2007, including 16.2 million tonnes of wheat (93 percent more).

 

At agricultural enterprises, grain reserves by Wednesday, 1 October 2008 totalled 14.8 million tonnes, which is twice as much as last year, including 9.1 million tonnes of wheat (2.2 times more).

 

The average purchase price of grain crops offered by enterprises in January to September this year was UAH 1,050 per tonne (UAH 822 per tonne last year), including wheat UAH 1,011 per tonne.

 

In September those companies purchased grain crops averagely at UAH 924 per tonne, which is 1 percent up on August.
