Bayer CropScience gains access to Romanian NARDI's wheat germplasm

 

 

A license agreement to access Romanian agricultural research institute NARDI's wheat germplasm has been signed by Bayer CropScience, according to Bayer AG Saturday (Oct 16).

 

The germplasm pool of the Romanian institute is known for its high tolerance against droughts and its good milling and baking quality.

 

No financial details were disclosed.

 

Bayer has already entered collaborations on wheat research and breeding in Australia, Israel, France, US and Ukraine.

 

Accelerating the development of new wheat varieties and improving the productivity of wheat crops is essential to ensure global food security, Hartmut van Lengerich, Head of Cereals and Fungicides at Bayer CropScience, said.
