Ho Chi Minh City's annual meat consumption hits 270,000 tonnes

 

 

Ho Chi Minh City consumes 270,000 tonnes of various kinds of meat and poultry products annually, the Vietnamese newspaper reported Friday (Oct 14).

 

The volume is forecast to rise to 330,000 tonnes by 2015, the newspaper said.

 

At present, local production meets only between 20-25% of the volume and the remaining is provided from surrounding provinces.

 

Provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Long An and Ba Ria-Vung Tau supply pigs  and cattle while Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tien Giang, Long An and others provide poultry and eggs for the city.
