Russia's grain output to reach 95 million tonnes
Russia's grain harvest is expected to hit 95 million tonnes this year, according to President Dmitry Medvedev on Friday (Oct 14).
"The grain harvest reached 90 million tonnes, we have plans in mind to harvest 95 million tonnes," Medvedev said.
His statement echoed an earlier forecast by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Both did not specify whether the volumes were by clean weight, or bunker weight, obtained after the grain is cleaned and dried.
Bunker weight is normally 5-7% larger than the clean weight.
The official grain crop forecast for this year is 90-93 million tonnes by clean weight and it is supported by the chief weather forecaster and analysts.
