Indian seafood exports raise 6 percent in Q1 2008-09

  
India's seafood exports increased 6 percent in volume and value for the first quarter of fiscal year 2008-09, while dollar revenue also grew 8.6 percent during the period.


The result contrasted sharply with the performance of the last fiscal year when exports fell in both volume and value.


In April-June 2008-09, India exported 107,060 tonnes of seafood products valued at Rs 1593.07 crore, up from 100,852 tonnes worth Rs 1505.84 crore during the same period in the previous fiscal year.


The dollar value also grew to US$392.34 million from US$361.11 million.
