One-O-Four will present its concept for preserving chick quality during transport at EuroTier 2008 in Hannover, Germany, on November 11 to 14.
One-O-Four has developed the HatchTraveller to create a uniform environment for day old chicks during transport, which would preserve chick quality and maximise performance potential.
One-O-Four uses the concept of laminar airflow and micro climates inside the truck to keep the chickens at a steady body temperature of 104º F. The HatchTraveller also allows the transportation of more day-old-chicks per cubic metre, when compared with traditional ways of transport.
Chicks are unable to regular their body temperature for the first four days after hatch, therefore it is necessary to keep the chickens in their thermo neutral zone during those days. In traditional transport systems based on ventilation, chickens are often too hot or too cold. This causes stress, which impacts chick performance that cannot be compensated.
Dutch company One-O-Four is a chick transport specialist and is established in 2007, starting with the introduction of laminar airflow concept.
