Industrial Nanotech, Inc. announced that the Company has launched a new patented crop protection product.
The primary aim of the product is to protect the pollination.
Stuart Burchill, CEO/CTO of Industrial Nanotech said that since crops relies on bees for pollination and there has been a sharp decline in bee populations, commercial crops are in considerable jeopardy.
Not only are commercial grains such as soy affected but also many other fruits, vegetables and nuts.
Bee populations have declined 30 percent in the US since 2006 due to a colony collapses disorder, he said. There are over 3 million commercial bee hives in the US, almost 9 million in Europe, and the total worldwide number of commercial beehives is over 55 million.
The company's product, Nansulate Bee Protect, is a protective coating specifically for beehives which has proven effective at halting bee loss in eight months of field trials conducted in three US states and will now be marketed globally.
Francesca Crolley, V.P. of Operations & Marketing for Industrial Nanotech, Inc. said field trials have shown the product works successfully against the colony collapse disorder which has been a crucial issue in the bee industry worldwide.
Nansulate manufactures specialty coatings containing a nanotechnology based material to provide the combined performance qualities of thermal insulation, corrosion prevention, resistance to mold growth, and lead encapsulation. The Nansulate Product Line includes both industrial and residential coatings.
