Russian grain production reaches 91.8 million tonnes
Russia produced 91.8 million tonnes of grains in bunker weight as of October 12 (Wed), up 30 million tonnes compared to the same date last year, according to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
Agrarians harvested grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of 39.7 million hectares, or 90% of the planned areas. The average yield reached 23.1 c/ha against 18.9 c/ha last year, but down almost 1 c/ha compared to 2009 results.
According to forecasts of the Ministry of Agriculture, the general grain harvest in Russia in 2011 will exceed the level of 90 million tonnes in clean weight against 60.9 million tonnes in 2010, and 97 million tonnes in 2009.
