Vietnam's daily pig exports to China amount 135 tonnes

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Animal Health Department said that Vietnam exports 6,000 pigs weighing about 135 tonnes from the two northern provinces of Lang Son and Quang Ninh to China daily.

Due to a huge price difference, traders go to central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Quang Ngai, and Binh Dinh and northern provinces of Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong and other provinces to collect pig for selling to the neighbouring country.

In September, Vietnam traders exported 4,000 tonnes of living pigs to China, the department said.

Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian country imported over 15,000 tonnes of meat and 71,000 tonnes of chicken products in January-September, up 4.5% from the same period last year. It is expected to import 30,000-35,000 tonnes of different kinds of meat in the fourth quarter to meet the domestic demand.
