Taiwan purchases 44,000 tonnes of US wheat
The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association (TFMA) on Wednesday (Oct 12) purchased 43,820 tonnes of US wheat in a tender, trading executives said.
TFMA bought Dark Northern Spring wheat with 14.5% protein at US$417.28/tonne, free on board. After factoring in freight charges of US$39/tonne, the total cost is US$456.28/tonne.
It bought Hard Red Winter wheat at US$395.26/ton, C&F.
The association's import prices for high-quality milling wheat are widely considered a benchmark in Asian grain trade, despite its relatively small import volumes.
