China's autumn, winter crops reach 28% of total acreage
China has planted autumn and winter crops on 13.6 million hectares of cropland, accounting for 28.4% of the planned planting area, the Ministry of Agriculture said Monday (Oct 10).
Han Changfu, the minister of MOA, said top priority had been placed on autumn and winter planting in an effort to achieve steady growth of grain output next year.
Autumn sowing was progressing smoothly while northern winter wheat growing areas had seen abundant rainfall since September, which was favourable for the coming winter planting, Han said.
