Kazakhstan's grain output to be 1.5 times more this year
Kazakh 24 million tonnes of grain in bunker weight were milled with yields of 16.5 quintals per hectare, 1.5 times more than last year, according to the Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture on Friday (Oct 7).
As of October 6, 2011, 90% of the harvested area of cereals has been harvested in Kazakhstan.
"Because of weather conditions, harvesting delayed this year, and is in high humidity conditions, and expected crop yields are almost 1.5 times greater than last year's level," said the ministry.
Kazakhstan has 217 licensed grain-enterprises with a capacity of about 13.6 million tonnes, while the agricultural enterprises have a capacity of storing 8.9 million tonnes of grain. The total amount of available containers for storing grain is 22.5 million tonnes, which is sufficient to store the incoming grain.
