New Zealand beef exports up 2 percent on-year
New Zealand's beef exports during September climbed 2 percent on-year to 13,521 tonnes swt.
From January to September, New Zealand's beef exports reached 292,749 tonnes swt, also an on-year increase of 2 percent, according to Meat and Wool New Zealand.
The US accounted for 49 percent of New Zealand's beef shipments in September, up 19 percent on-year, at 6,650 tonnes swt. Beef exports to Canada also increased 10 percent on-year to 833 tonnes swt.
Demand from other markets was sluggish, with shipments to Japan falling 36 percent on-year to 1,321 tonnes swt. South Korea imported 791 tonnes swt, down 43 percent, while Taiwan imported 16-percent less beef at 598 tonnes swt.
