French firm LDC acquires 2 poultry plants from Agrial

 
 
 

French poultry group LDC has bought two processing plants from Agrial, a French co-operative engaged in agri-food business.

 

The deal, worth €85 million (US$95.6 million), involves taking control of one chicken processing plant in Chailand in the Loire and one turkey processing plant in Plumetot in lower Normandy.

 

LDC, one of France's major poultry suppliers, said the acquisitions strengthens its position in western France.

 

LDC brands include Le Gaulois, Rented, Master Chef, Mary and Traditions Asia Hits.

 

With turnover of €3.4 billion ($3.8 billion) in the last financial year, LDC employs 17,500 people in 70 processing plants in France, Poland and Spain, and deals with 5,500 poultry breeders.

 

Agrial has 12,000 co-op members and is into meat and food, vegetable and drinks production, among others, in France, Europe and the US. Its brands include Florette and Créaline. Its turnover reached €4.2billion last year.
