North Korean grain production to increase
North Korean grain yield will increase by more than 4% this year in contrast to last year, according to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the UN.
The FAO said in its report on the state of food and agriculture on Friday (Oct 7) that it estimates North Korean crops will reach 4.4 million tonnes this year.
Experts attribute that to North Korea having used large amounts of fertiliser imported from China this year. In addition, they believe weather conditions were not bad compared with previous years, although there were heavy rains.
