China harvests 63 percent of autumn grain, 70 percent of annual grain 

The Ministry of Agriculture said late Tuesday, 2 October 2008, China has harvested 63 percent of its autumn grain.

The ministry said in a statement published on its Website, the 46.7 million hectares of grain crop includes 21.5 million hectares of corn, or 71 percent of the total corn acreage, and 7.2 million hectares of soy, or 79 percent of the total soy acreage

It added, it also includes 11.7 million hectares of rice, or 67 percent of total rice area.

The ministry said, including summer grain, China has now harvested more than 70 percent of its total grain acreage this year.
