Ukraine's companies urge suspension of sunseed export duty

Ukrzernoprom Agro Ltd., Freedom Farm International and many other large-scale Ukrainian agribusinesses have urged the government and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to temporarily suspend sunseed export duties, according to Ukrzernoprom Agro on Monday (October 6, 2008).

A temporary removal of export duties would allow farmers to sell the oilseed harvest at more favourable prices, said Eugene Leng, general director of the company.

That would enable farmers to invest more money in harvesting without hurting the state budget.
