South Korea reports low-pathogenic bird flu
South Korea has reported an outbreak of low-pathogenic bird flu along its east coast.
The South Korean veterinary authorities have advised the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that there has been an outbreak of low-pathogenic avian influenza caused by the H5N2 sub-type.
The outbreak started on Friday, 3 October 2008, was confirmed the following day and the report was sent to the OIE today.
The farm is located at YeSan-gun, Oga-myun, in the region of Ch'Ungch'Ong-Namdo on the country's east coast. All 5000 birds on a duck parent stock farm were destroyed. The authorities describe the outbreak as resolved.
