India soymeal exports touch 4.89 million tonnes in 2007/08
Indian soymeal exports rose 38.64 percent in the year ending September 2008, a leading trade body said in a statement on Monday ( October 6, 2008).
Total exports rose to 4.89 million tonnes compared to 3.53 million tonnes in the same period last year, the Soybean Processors' Association of India (SOPA) said.
Last week, SOPA forecast India's soy output in the year ending September 2009 at a record 10.82 million tonnes on higher per hectare yield and a rise in the total acreage.
Malaysia, Japan, China, Vietnam and Thailand were the major destinations for Indian soymeal exports.
