Vietnam to determine chemicals used to coat chickens
Cooperation amongst the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) under the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be undertaken to check local market and define the substance used by retailers in coating chickens.
The VFA will take chicken samples from market to find out whether chicken sellers use unknown chemicals to coat their product, the Dan tri online newspaper reported.
The agency will also make analyses to define the substances' toxicity for human consumption.
The rumour said that chicken sellers often use one substance containing heavy metals to make their products more attractive. The substance is using in automobile industry but not in food processing, some sources said.
